How long couch cleaning takes, and whether to tip

A couch is cleaned in one visit at your home, and a bigger piece takes longer; the time to dry comes after. Tipping is your choice, and no tip is added to the price. Book WATERFALL's couch cleaning by seats, and see the prices page for the sizes. WATERFALL cleans couches at your home from $130: call (747) 214-6199.

How long does each piece take?

The time on site at your home, piece by piece; drying comes after.

  • a couch or loveseat with 2–4 seats: about an hour
  • a sectional with 5–7 or 8–9 seats, and other bigger pieces: 1–2 hours
  • drying after upholstery is cleaned: between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the weather and the airflow (drying times by item)
  • dining chairs, armchairs, ottomans, mattresses and rugs: text the list of pieces to (747) 214-6199 and we tell you how long the visit takes
  • wall-to-wall carpet: the time comes with the quote by text, from the room sizes or photos

How long does professional couch cleaning take?

The visit takes about an hour for a typical couch, 1–2 hours for bigger pieces. The cushions come off and are cleaned one by one, the frame is cleaned on every side, and an organic shampoo is worked in and pulled out by steam extraction.

The number of seats, the fabric and how soiled it is change the time a little. Drying comes after and depends on the weather; see the guide to drying times.

How long does a sectional cleaning take?

About 1–2 hours: a sectional is one of the bigger pieces, with more seats, more cushions and more frame than a couch, and the booking form prices it by seats, 5–7 and 8–9. A modular or U-shaped sectional is the long end of that range, and the drying that follows is in drying times by item.

The booking form has a size for the biggest sectionals, so one booking covers it. Text a photo of the whole sectional to (747) 214-6199 if it has a chaise or a corner and you want to know how long it will take.

How long does upholstery cleaning take, and when can I use it?

It depends on the piece: a chair or an ottoman takes less time than a couch, and a set of dining chairs takes the sum of the chairs. You can use the piece when it is dry, which depends on the weather and on average takes between 2 and 6 hours.

Plan the visit for a day when nobody needs to sit on the furniture afterward. The guide to drying times says when to sit and when to put things back.

How long does mattress cleaning take?

It depends on the size of the mattress and on how much of it needs cleaning; one mattress price covers any size. The mattress is left to dry afterward.

A mattress holds water, so it needs time to dry before the bed is made; see the guide to steam cleaning a mattress and the mattress cleaning page.

How long does carpet cleaning take?

It depends on the area, and a single room takes much less time than a whole floor. Carpet is priced per room, and you can ask about the time for your rooms by text at (747) 214-6199.

The cleaning is shampoo and steam extraction in your home, and drying comes after. See the guide to carpet cleaning methods for the steps.

How long does the carpet cleaning process take?

The steps are the same in every room: clear the space, vacuum, work in the shampoo, extract it with the dirt and let the carpet dry. The time for the work depends on the area and how soiled the carpet is, and the time for drying on the weather and the airflow.

How long does rug cleaning take?

It depends on the size and the fiber, and the rug stays in your home. It lies on a drop cloth, an organic shampoo is worked in with a brush and steam extraction takes it out; drying follows and depends on the weather.

A thick, wool or shag rug holds more water and takes longer to dry. See the guide to steam cleaning a rug and the rug cleaning page.

How long will it take to complete my cleaning service?

The time on site is the sum of your pieces, plus a short time to set up and put the drop cloth down. Jobs run 7 AM – 5 PM every day. Same-day service is available, and we contact you to confirm the order details when you book.

A job with several pieces, a large sectional or a stained carpet takes longer than one couch. Text the list of pieces to (747) 214-6199.

Are you supposed to tip carpet or couch cleaners?

No, it is not required. Tipping is your choice: many people tip for a job well done, as they would for other home services, most often after a long job, heavy furniture or hard stains. The price you see is the price you pay: nothing is added when we arrive. No tip is added to it.

You pay after the work, after you have seen the result. If you do tip, ISSA, the cleaning industry association, says tips for home cleaning services usually range from 10 to 15 percent; the choice is yours.
